Foreign jurors join Iran Children and Youth Film Festival

The jury for the international animated movies competition of the 30th International Film Festival for Children and Youth in Iran has four foreign members.

The jury for the international animated movies competition of the 30th International Film Festival for Children and Youth in Iran has recruited four foreign members.

The five jury members comprise of one Iranian and four foreign members, who will evaluate the selected works in the line-up for the international competition section of the Iranian event, said festival president, Alireza Rezadad.

Foreign jury members include Hungarian filmmaker Ferenc Varsanyi, Russian film director Natalia Chernysheva, film producer Alexandra Sun from Hong Kong, and Gerhard Klein from Germany.

Varsanyi has written and directed hundreds of live action and animated films during his career of some 40 years.

Chernysheva has made four animated movies so far and also worked as animator, character designer and artist on several animated films.

Sun has founded a film library in the early 1990s to help distribute Chinese award-winning films around the world.

Klein is manager of Median Contour, Film Varley and Teamwork distributing companies, and is also president of the 24th International Schweppes Children Film Festival.

The juror from Iran is animation expert Saeed Tavakolian, who is currently the head of the animation department of Iran’s broadcasting university as well as a professor at Tehran and Honar Universities.

The 30th edition of the International Film Festival for Children and Youth will be held in the Iranian city of Isfahan from June 30 to July 6.
